The Manifesto 21#
Connection. It’s a core human need.
But in order for it to be genuine, it can’t be edited, filtered or cropped.
It’s not news to anyone here that social media isn’t real authentic connection, but our overuse and dependence on it can erode our ability to recognise and seek out genuine ways to connect with each other.
Connection is having relatable feelings and shared experiences. It’s belonging. It’s not something you intellectualise, it’s something you feel.
BUT connection isn’t always easy. It requires a willingness and things can get in the way, like trauma. Safely unpacking our traumas with a therapist can help heal and trust again. Trust ourselves, others and life. If we can trust again we can be vulnerable, show up and connect.
The process of connection with others and being seen and loved for who we are, also allows us to learn it’s OK to be as we are.
“I define connection as the energy that exists between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued; when they can give and receive without judgment; and when they derive sustenance and strength from the relationship.” Brene Brown.
