The Manifesto 2#
Genuine courage and strength is required to lean into the parts of ourselves that we don’t like or that we refuse to acknowledge. This ‘shadow self’ can be a reservoir for human darkness but it can also be the birthplace of creativity. This is the fine line we walk as artists/performers and creatives. I see it in my clients and I feel it in myself. It is only through effort to become self-aware that we can recognise our shadow.
If we are able to accept and understand these parts of ourselves, we are then more able to accept it and understand it in others.
Everyone carries a shadow and the less it is embodied in the individual’s conscious life, the blacker and denser it is. – Carl Jung
