This ‘Pick of the Net’ features the vaudeville stylings of The ‘Jolly’ Jovers from 1980.
The Jovers (Wilfred & Fe Halliwell) performed together for decades, after meeting in the UK in 1953 and went on to tour world, including a 20 year run in Las Vegas from 1968 – 1988.
Fe’s family, the Jovers, had been performing for five generations, and her father was a well-known clown. She attended a theatrical school and got her start in the family act as a chorus singer. Will was a ‘first generation’ showman who apparently was the ‘Black Sheep’ of the family – his father was an engineer who had expected him to follow in his footsteps.
I hope you enjoy,
Peace & respect,
Hamish
