FOLD: A Domestic Circus is a new work from the super talented Lewie West, Mieke Lizotte & Darcy Grant. It is presented by NORPA (Northern Rivers Performing Arts) who are based in Lismore Northern NSW, on Bundjalung Country.
FOLD as a project, was brought to NORPA by Circus director & performer Darcy Grant (Director of Gravity & Other Myth Shows BACKBONE & Out of Chaos) through NORPA’s Artistic Associate program and had a *creative development in 2018 with NORPA’s Artistic director Julian Louis coming on board as Dramaturg.
Hat’s off to NORPA for supporting new work and supplying funding & that precious resource SPACE for creation.

ABOUT THE SHOW (From the NORPA Website)
Fold explores how relationships grow more complex over time. It’s relatable settings, everyday objects and common rituals transposed in to highly-skilled physical theatre.
Everyday scenes are made memorable and familiar gestures are transformed into acrobatics.
Clothes being folded as bodies and arms interweave in a complex sequence resulting in neatly stacked piles of washing. A cup of tea is acrobatically interrogated, shared and spilled. Mopping the floor moves from domestic chore to intricate dance. A fitted bed-sheet enfolds the acrobats and transforms the scene, moving the audience from playful bedroom, to bedside care, to a funeral home.
Through this couple we experience life and death. Romance and loss. While the scenes reflect a lifetime, do these moments belong to now? Are they projections of what a lifetime together could look like?
In Fold ordinary moments are made extraordinary.
