#Dragformation
A photographic series by Aaron Walker documenting the transformation of some of Australia’s premiere drag performers, Aaron’s images of the diverse drag spectrum are captured with great sensitivity, offering a rare insight into these performance artists.
#Dragformation is a study of the many facets of drag – from it’s subversive and deconstructionist applications, to it’s cultural value within and beyond communities, to it’s meaning and value to the individual and their constructions of self and identity.
It is an ongoing project for Aaron with no set end date – aiming to capture and document what ‘drag’ is, what it means, and the people who engage with it. His photos reveal that drag is as electric, powerful and relevant as ever.
Aaron’s #Dragformation series has been exhibited as part of the Midsumma Festival at Chapel Off Chapel in Melbourne and at Watch This Space Gallery in Sydney and garnered huge attention online when he first exhibited.
