Melba Film Night
This week we hosted our very first Melbourne Carnival Cinema film night event.

We chose a Monday night so that even the people gigging could come, and although it was cold and wet it was toasty inside and we had a great turn out! Huge thanks to Circus Oz for making us feel so welcomed, particularly to Brian for sorting the Melba and Lou for giving it the green light and serving behind the bar! It was excellent to see so many of our community, Carnival Cinema members (and hoodies) stuffed into the glorious Melba Spiegeltent, connecting in the flesh.
A common theme of the night was how important it is for us all to get off screens and physically catch up. Having said that, we know it’s ironic that Carnival Cinema reflects our community on screens but our core objective is to bring us all closer together, so what better way to connect but over a bevvy at a movie night? Circus Festivals are too few and far apart! We watched films, the bar was open, there were laughs, a few tears. New friends welcomed into the clan, and old mates who hadn’t seen each other for years, and much conversation about our community and how best we can support and look after each other.
“The Church of Carnival Cinema met, we talked, we laughed, we cried and we left better off than whence we came”. – Byron Hutton
This is the first of many Carnival Cinema events. There
are already whispers of events in Brunswick Heads, Brisbane, Albury, Sydney and New Zealand!!!!
Stay Tuned, watch this space.
As Always a special shout out to all the Carnival Cinema Members out there,
Many Thanks!
Cross your bones.
Onward, forward & upward!
